Out of Their Minds

I've warned everyone who reads my posts...of the impending doom going on in California on numerous occasions. Well...this just in...California isn't the worst. No! Evidently, other states are lining up for that ignominious distinction. Like...New York for instance.

If ever there was an example of the very real consequences of the idiocy in the State Senate, it was in New York City on Wednesday. The state senators’ failure to extend mayoral control of city schools had officials scrambling to figure out how to restore the old, failed Board of Education. And the Senate’s refusal to pass a sales tax increase is expected to cost the city $60 million in July alone.

So begins an opinion piece in the New York Times today. But let's cut to the meat of the matter...there is a CLEAR COMMON thread that runs through every one of these failures. Yes... and it's called GOVERNMENT....and we have failure at every level. Yes.......albeit be city (see New Orleans), state (see New York, California, and Illinois), or federal (see FEMA, SEC, and DHS).

And liberals and Democrats want more government? You really have to be out of your mind...to want that.

But then again, I'm not a liberal.

The French Burqa- A Fashion Faux Pas

It's important to note...that in the rich stretch of French History...standing up against bullies, thugs, fascists, and evil-doers....uh....hasn't been their strong suit.

But maybe things are changing.

Al Qaeda threatened to "take revenge" on France "by every means and wherever we can reach them" because of a debate in France over whether the burqa, a traditional Islamic woman's covering, violates French law, according to a statement posted on radical Islamist Web sites.

"We will not tolerate such provocations and injustices, and we will take our revenge from France," said the statement, signed by Abu Musab Abdul Wadud, calling himself "commander of al Qaeda in North Africa [Islamic Maghreb]."

So look Abdul....or Mr. Wad or Commander Dud or whatever your official 15th century name is- here's a brainteaser...exactly what DO you tolerate? Near as I can tell, you guys can't tolerate the last 500 years of modernity.

The right of Muslim women to cover themselves is fiercely debated in France, which has a significant Muslim minority but also a staunchly secular constitution.

The French have a history of being a bunch of....okay so how can I say this politely....they've been a bunch....of pussies. There I said it.

So, let's hope Sarkozy stops that.

Abstract Liberal Thinking

I mean...c'mon...is there any other? Yep....those anencephalic liberals are at it again. Apparently, Barack Obama is none too happy about the BLOODLESS coup that took place over the weekend in Honduras.

U.S. President Barack Obama said on Monday the coup that ousted Honduran President Manuel Zelaya was illegal and would set a "terrible precedent" of transition by military force unless it was reversed.

So let me get this straight...and just so as we're all on the same leftwing ideological page- when Iran holds democratic elections in a theocratic society and supporters for the disputed loser rise up...in attempt to rebel, and foment an overthrow of the government- uh...that's okay...that's LEGAL and the U.S. can support that- but when a coup without violence takes out an unpopular far left ally of Hugo Chavez....that's quite ILLEGAL?

Zelaya, in office since 2006, was overthrown in a dawn coup on Sunday after he angered the judiciary, Congress and the army by seeking constitutional changes that would allow presidents to seek re-election beyond a four-year term.

The Obama administration's stance contrasted with the equivocal position taken in 2002 by former President George W. Bush's administration, which was seen as tacitly accepting a coup against Venezuela's leftist President Hugo Chavez.

Exactly!

Basically, Zelaya was trying to pull a Hugo Chavez. Chavez tried the same thing...and brought it up for a vote- but fortunately the people of Venezuela bitch-slapped him and rejected it. Had Zelaya put his 'PRESIDENT FOR LIFE' notion before his people, maybe we wouldn't be having this conversation. But no, he didn't. And the Honduran Supreme Court said...you have 2 choices...leave the country...or leave the country.

Uh...just for the record...a permanent vacation in Costa Rica....is not a bad choice to be given.

Not So Fast Soto

I'm GLAD the white guys aren't as smart as Sotomayor.

You May Know a Man by the Company He Keeps

An often delivered proverb...most of you have heard. And in the case of ousted Honduran president Jose Manuel Zeleya....that's all you need to know.

Hours after the sitting president was deposed by a military-led coup, a new president of Honduras was sworn in Sunday.

The political developments that swept Honduras over the past weeks and led up to Sunday's coup had the makings of a crisis, but the situation in the Central American nation of 8 million people was calm.

Micheletti, the head of Congress, became president after lawmakers voted by a show of hands to strip Zelaya of his powers, with a resolution stating that Zelaya "provoked confrontations and divisions," within the country.

And if you're unsure of what all this means.....and more importantly- where the U.S. allegiance should fall- this little bit of insight below...should give you a CLEAR PICTURE:

The coup was widely criticized in the region, in strongest terms by Zelaya's leftist allies, including Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez. A statement from Venezuela's foreign ministry said Zelaya was "violently expelled from his country by a group of unpatriotic, coup-mongering soldiers."

The Bolivian government also condemned the coup, accusing Honduran troops of kidnapping Zelaya and violently expelling him from his country.

That's good enough for me. Anything leftwing nutjob Hugo Chavez is AGAINST....I'm FOR. It's that simple. And if Zelaya's allies include Hugo Chavez and the leftwing government of Bolivia....then you can certainly judge his character- and do so...by the company he keeps.

Cap and Trade Pelosi

Can't we cap or trade Nancy Pelosi? I mean...c'mon...she's so far left...she could make a complete circle at the Brickyard race track in Indianapolis.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has put cap-and-trade legislation on a forced march through the House, and the bill may get a full vote as early as Friday. It looks as if the Democrats will have to destroy the discipline of economics to get it done.

The Wall Street Journal has weighed in on Nancy's nonsense. Read the whole thing.

The hit to GDP is the real threat in this bill. The whole point of cap and trade is to hike the price of electricity and gas so that Americans will use less.

That's the Democrats for you...tax you...'til you change your behavior. They've done it with gas, cigarettes, and alcohol...heck, if it was left up to complete IDIOTS like David Paterson....everything would be taxed.

And the climate legislation...or as I like to call it- the Wax-me Malarkey Bill- could be voted on in the House...as early as TODAY.

God help us all.

The 1% Solution...(Uh...Not Even That)

If you're wondering where all that money from Obama's $787 billion dollar STIMULUS package went...you're not alone. It hasn't 'went' anywhere...and likely WON'T for quite sometime:

Less than one-half of 1% of the money set aside for highway repair and construction has been distributed since President Obama signed the $787 billion stimulus package in February, Transportation Department figures show.

Which begs the question- Why do Americans want MORE government? The government we have...couldn't find their ass with a map and a flashlight.

States have received only about $132 million of the stimulus package's $27.5 billion in road construction funding, department figures show. As of May 31, the 13 states with double-digit unemployment rates received only about $22 million of that highway money, according to figures released by the committee in advance of the hearing.

Uh...that 'double-digit' unemployment is here to stay...for quite awhile.
