Al Gore, you genius, Alaska just got slammed.

The temperature at Fairbanks International Airport hit 50 below zero Saturday morning for the first time since 2006, while a low of 57 below was reported in North Pole.

Fort Yukon and Huslia were the coldest Interior communities at 63 below zero, while two others beat their own records.

Tanana hit 61 below zero Saturday morning, breaking its previous record low of 58 below, set in 1919, and Bettles, at 60 below, broke its previous record of 56 below, which was set in 1989.

Since 1919? Wait...I thought the earth was warming? Almost 100 years and parts of Alaska are colder than they were. Al Gore, you global warming soothsayer!

Letter to Bleeding Heart Liberals

I came across the perfect letter for all those whacked liberals who always want to forget the murdered, the raped, and the maimed and spare the poor criminal.

A convicted murderer on death row in North Carolina wrote a taunting letter to his hometown newspaper about his life of "leisure" in prison and making a mockery of the legal system.

Danny Robbie Hembree Jr. was found guilty of murdering 17-year-old Heather Catterton in 2009 and was sentenced to death on Nov. 18, 2011.

Hmmmm...so exactly what did he say....

"Is the public aware that I am a gentleman of leisure, watching color TV in the A.C., reading, taking naps at will, eating three well balanced hot meals a day," Hembree asked in the letter. "I'm housed in a building that connects to the new 55 million dollar hospital with round the clock free medical care 24/7."

Rough life, huh?

Gaston County District Attorney Locke Bell said that he has received two distraught phone calls from Catterton's father today.

"I got a call from the father of the 17-year-old that he murdered, in tears. He said that this is tearing the family to shreds. This is ripping the wound open," Locke told ABCNews.com. "[The father] said, 'He murdered our daughter, got the death penalty and now he's just sitting in jail laughing at us.'"

Uh....yah. That's the sad truth. The victims lie cold while the vicious murderer lives well for another 20 or more years.

Hembree has also been accused of killing two other women. One was 30-year-old Randi Dean Saldana, whose burnt remains were found near Blacksburg, S.C. in 2009. The other was 30-year-old Deborah Ratchford, whose body was found in 1992.

Immigration authorities released man who went on to kill 3 in North Miami

When burglar Kesler Dufrene became a twice-convicted felon in 2006, a Bradenton judge shipped him to prison for five years. And because of his convictions, an immigration judge ordered Dufrene deported to his native Haiti.

That never happened.

Instead, when Dufrene’s state prison term was up, Miami immigration authorities in October 2010 released him from custody. Two months later, North Miami police say, he slaughtered three people, including a 15-year-old girl in a murder case that remains as baffling today as it did the afternoon the bodies were discovered.

Some good news. John Huntsman is exiting the presidential race tomorrow.

GOP candidate Jon Huntsman will drop out of the presidential race on Monday, a senior official with the former Utah governor's campaign told CNN.

He will endorse front-runner Mitt Romney, the source said.

Huntsman finished third in the New Hampshire primary, a state in which he had staked his entire campaign, finishing behind Romney and Texas Rep. Ron Paul.

He made headlines when he decided to take his campaign to compete in the South Carolina primary, where he was expected to perform poorly.

Yah, when you heard him in New Hampshire, he sounded giddy finishing THIRD! Gee....what's changed? That was 5 days ago. Well...I have a sneaking suspicion....when he found out he couldn't beat comedian Stephen Colbert, it was time to go speak Chinese to someone who'd listen.

Whereas private businesses cut prices for consumers and costs to themselves through efficiencies that increase profits and incomes, universities lack those incentives.

Indeed, the typical successful university president views his or her key constituencies not to be the customer (students and their parents who pay tuition charges or the granters of research funds), but rather others -- the faculty, important alumni, key administrators, trustees and occasionally politicians. They please these constituencies by raising, and then spending, lots of money.

They effectively bribe powerful faculty with low teaching loads, high salaries and good parking. They give the alumni successful intercollegiate athletic programs that are expensive and usually financed off the backs of students. They give trustees whatever they want, no matter how costly or eccentric.

SAY WHAT? No they don't. Alumni are doing the GIVING. We pour an insane amount of money into our Alma maters for our sports programs to be successful. Students are too busy paying outrageous amounts of money for classes taught by a moon-bat with a fetish for organic mushrooms and for books by the very college faculty they attend. Books written by professors who won't make tenure UNLESS THEY'RE PUBLISHED.

Colleges and universities don't give alumni a damn thing. I know, I'm one.

Like health care, prices are rising rapidly for higher education because of the predominant role of third-party payments - federal student loans and grants, state government support for institutions and students, private philanthropic gifts and endowment income.

That doesn't even make sense. Third party? What the hell does that mean? Colleges have millions and millions of dollars pouring IN not OUT. My God...the Ivy league schools alone could finance most of Africa.

The key to getting costs under control is contained in three words that begin with the letter "I"-- information, incentives and innovation.

No it's not! The key to getting costs under control is quit spending gobs of money on a faculty that is tenured for life and worse....financing their whims. Like- oh I don't know- how about the mating habits of a porcupine?

The real burning question coming from anyone with half a brain is....why doesn't Occupy Wall Street...Occupy the College of their choice? Better yet...why aren't they defecating on those campuses? Or shutting down traffic to and from those buildings? And leaving 30 tons of trash at Pick a College?

America not Exceptional at the NY Times

Charles Blow(hard) opines today that America is not exceptional. And he goes on to site statistics that support his conclusion.

Is America exceptional among nations? Are we, as a country and a people and a culture, set apart and better than others? Are we, indeed, the “shining city upon a hill” that Ronald Reagan described? Are we “chosen by God and commissioned by history to be a model to the world” as George W. Bush said?

This year, for the first time, most Americans did not say yes.

According to a report issued on Thursday by the Pew Research Center’s Global Attitudes Project, when Americans were asked if they agreed with the statement “our people are not perfect but our culture is superior to others,” only 49 percent agreed. That’s down from 60 percent in 2002, the first time that Pew asked the question.

Have you ever noticed when liberals discuss America, it's always in terms of what's wrong with America? And never what's right? So it comes as no surprise, when the Blows, the Krugmans and the Milbanks open their pie holes.

We must work our way out of these doldrums. We must learn our way out. We must innovate our way out.

We have to stop snuggling up to nostalgia, acknowledge that we have allowed a mighty country to be brought low and set a course to restitution. And that course is through hard work and tough choices. You choose greatness; it doesn’t choose you.

At Wonderland Avenue Elementary School in Laurel Canyon, there are lesson plans on diverse families — including those with two mommies or daddies — books on homosexual authors in the library and a principal who is openly gay.

But even at this school, teachers and administrators are flummoxed about how to carry out a new law requiring California public schools to teach all students — from kindergartners to 12th graders — about lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender Americans in history classes.

And starting in January.

Educators across the state don't have much time to figure it out. In January, they're expected to begin teaching about LGBT Americans under California's landmark law, the first of its kind in the nation.

The law has sparked confusion about what, exactly, is supposed to be taught. Will fourth-graders learn that some of the Gold Rush miners were gay and helped build San Francisco? Will students be taught about the "two-spirited people" tradition among some Native Americans, as one gay historian mused?

Occupy Wall Street should be a moral, not political, movement

It's really simple, and insanely stupid, to examine the real anger of Occupy Wall Street as a bunch of young folks with nothing to do. If we recall March 2009 when the AIG bonuses came to light, every corner of this nation was angry with what we heard. Political ideology didn't matter. It was seen as a matter of right and wrong.

That's why the various leaders of Occupy Wall Street, no matter how local and decentralized, must look at their effort as not being a galvanizing force to put one party into office. Instead, it should be about candidates of both political parties, as well as independents, speaking to their needs and desires.

Moral? Uh oh...there they go again. Another progressive looking to hijack the moral high ground.

As someone who is more enamored with studying the intricacies of the civil rights movement rather than memorizing key speeches of its leaders, what was clear from Day One was that it wasn't about getting a Democrat or Republican elected. It was always about ensuring full freedom and equality for African-Americans who were denied their rights as citizens.

WTF? Huh? You're INVOKING the civil rights struggle in the same breath with this cockamamie hippie protest? How about sticking to the Wall Street protesters, you dolt.

This struggle is the moral dilemma the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. frequently discussed.

An Obama administration appointee at the Energy Department pressed White House analysts to sign off on a $535 million loan to Solyndra even though his wife worked for the failed solar panel maker's law firm, according to internal emails made public on Friday.

Ruh roh....problems coming from every direction!

The emails show frequent inquiries from Steven Spinner, who was an adviser to the Energy Department on its use of economic stimulus funding to spur clean energy technology, on the Solyndra loan, according to a report in the New York Times.

And we know how liberals LOVE the NY Times. So as long as the Times or the Washington Post stays on this, we might have some traction. Otherwise, liberals would forget this faster than an Anthony Weiner tweet.

"The paper trail released by the White House portrays a disturbingly close relationship between President Obama's West Wing inner circle, campaign donors, and wealthy investors that spawned the Solyndra mess," Representatives Fred Upton, the panel's chairman, and Cliff Stearns, the head of the investigation, said in a statement.

Gee...what a shocker. A White House relationship with all those WEALTHY investors that liberals despise. Wait a moon-bat minute, you mean millionaires? The same class of people that liberals want to tax into oblivion?

Obama defends an assassination of TWO American citizens, and a couple of liberals raise their hands and ask Professor Obama what was his intent? Please Mr. Obama, oh wise one- Yoda of the Western world, share with us the pros and cons.

An array of international law experts defended the legality of the airstrike, illustrating the conflicting interpretations of law in the fight against terrorism.

Really? But Guantanamo, rendition, water-boarding, taking out Saddam Hussein under Bush.....not okay. Look moon-bats, choose a side. Either hug a terrorist or don't. For God's sake- grow a pair and pick a team. STFU..it's either Team terrorism, or Team America.

Global Warming Takes a Hit From Its Own Believers

If you were with us in our last episode, the Himalayas were melting and the oceans were going to rise 20 feet. Egads. Somebody round up the animal kingdom, and for goodness sake, where's Noah?

Seems the Global Warming believers are trying to fact-check their facts- for a change.

The news release promoting the latest edition of Britain’s influential Times Comprehensive Atlas of the World hailed it as “the Greatest Book on Earth.” Not the way climate scientists see it.

“Fiasco” was the word chosen by one scientist in an e-mail to the National Snow and Ice Data Center in Boulder, Colo., alerting his colleagues to erroneous claims made by the publishers of the atlas (whose name derives from The Times of London) about the speed at which Greenland’s glaciers are melting.

He also feared that a map in the atlas, along with news accounts repeating an error in the news release, could pull climate scientists into another vortex of damaging controversy.

The news release, echoed by the news media, claimed that Greenland had lost 15 percent of its permanent ice cover from 1999 to 2011. That translates to 125,000 cubic miles, according to a rough calculation by Etienne Berthier, a glaciologist with the University of Toulouse, enough melted ice to raise sea levels three to five feet.

The corresponding map in the atlas itself indicated that significant portions of Greenland’s coastline had become ice-free.

Glaciologists, previously bruised by an exaggerated claim about the melting of Himalayan glaciers in a 2007 United Nations report that became fodder for global warming skeptics, mobilized as a truth squad.

On blogs, on radio programs and in newspaper columns, they stated emphatically that Greenland has not lost 15 percent of its ice cover in recent years. The retreat, they said, is more like one-tenth of 1 percent. They were quick to add that nobody at the atlas had consulted them.

Really? Hmm....'more like 1/10th of 1%? Holy IPCC Batman. Then why is Al Gore and John Kerry expecting the oceans to rise, when in FACT, they are doing JUST THE OPPOSITE? Supposedly, they consulted you.

So which is it, a fact or an inconvenient truth?

The recent Fox/Google debate has revealed a glaring weakness in previous frontrunner Rick Perry. Evidently, he can't....debate.

Herman Cain pulled off a win at the Presidency 5 Straw Poll in Orlando, Fla., today gaining 37 percent of the 2,657 votes after wooing Florida Republican delegates with a series of strong speeches at CPAC and P5.

Texas Gov. Rick Perry, who stumbled through parts of Thursday’s debate, placed second, beating Mitt Romney by one and a half percent. They were followed by Rick Santorum, Ron Paul, Newt Gingrich, Jon Huntsman, and Michele Bachmann.

By all accounts, this is startling. Cain trounced both Perry AND Romney.

Some suggest Perry’s missteps in the debate and position on immigration may have hurt him among the party faithful in Florida.

Yah..NSS. I would be one of those 'some'.

William Breazeale, a delegate from Orlando, told ABC News he entered the weekend wanting to vote for Perry based on his jobs record but said Perry’s response to a question about in-state tuition for illegal immigrants at the debate would cost him a win at the Straw Poll.

“Rick Perry, as you’ll see, has lost a lot of conservatives in here by being pro-illegal immigration, and he can say he’s against it all he wants, but if you give benefits to any illegal aliens, you have lost the support of true conservatives,” Breazeale told ABC News.

For many of us..it's a deal breaker.

Diary From Los Angeles

5:25 AM PST:
Each workday begins with a quiet exit from my apartment in Long Beach, a second story…one bedroom, one bath overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The city streets are deserted, the freeways…not yet jammed. With the sky barely illuminated, I’m headed into Los Angeles to start my day. My job takes me to Los Angeles Air Force Base in El Segundo, Ca…where I provide engineering assistance to Air Force Space Command and a constellation of 28 GPS Satellites. It is a warm clear day….like hundreds of others here in LA.

5:46 AM PST:
In Los Angeles
I’m in my burgundy ‘99 Jeep Grand Cherokee, heading up the Northbound 405 freeway.

In New York
American Airlines Flight 11 impacts the north side of the North Tower (1 World Trade Center) of the WTC between the 94th and 98th floors. (American Airlines Flight 11 was flying at a speed of 490 miles per hour.)

6:02 AM PST:
In Los Angeles
I’m on the base and in my office...working on my first cup of coffee at my desk and working on opening my eyes to my email.

In New York
United Airlines Flight 175 impacts the south side of the South Tower of the WTC between the 78th and 84th floors at a speed of over 500 mph. Parts of the plane including an engine leave the building from its north side, to be found on the ground up to six blocks away.

6:05 AM PST:
Sitting in my office located in Building 120 on the base campus, a colleague of mine walks by, stops in and informs me that a plane has hit one of the World Trade Center buildings in New York. The news immediately brings to my mind….the B-25 Army plane that hit the 79th floor of the Empire State Building in 1945. I’m certainly curious…but not concerned that it is anything more than that. I figure this must be something similar. I ask my friend…if it was a small plane. He says…the news report has indicated it to be a much bigger plane.

I’m startled by his disclosure.

Normally, I would shrug this kind of news off and go back to my Email. But oddly enough…I decide to investigate….returning to my car in the parking lot- turning on the radio to find out the details.

6:10 AM PST:
I tap the AM button and KFB 980 to hear if the incident has made national news. It has. I begin to listen and realize something is not right. The radio announcer is talking about plane CRASHES. This stuns me. Evidently, a second plane crash has taken place- both WTC towers have been hit. In the span of no more than 5 minutes, I’m getting news of not one- but two large airplane crashes. Both are commercial airplanes carrying American passengers.

I’m in shock.

6:20 AM PST:
I race back to my office to tell the others who have trickled in. The buzz begins immediately.

6:30 AM PST:
In my building, the Air Force provides a barber for the officers to get AF regulation haircuts. They also have a decent color TV. The shop is down the hall from my office- they open at 7.

6:37 AM PST:
In Los Angeles
I’ve returned to my office, not realizing the barbershop is already open.

In Washington DC
American Airlines Flight 77 is lost from radar screens and impacts the western side of the Pentagon. The section of the Pentagon hit consists mainly of newly renovated, unoccupied offices.

6:40 AM PST:
Another friend lets me know they’ve opened the barbershop. When I walk in, 2 or 3 are already sitting there staring at the TV.

I sit down in one of the chairs gaping at the WTC towers. Smoke is billowing from both. I’ve barely begun my day- yet the East Coast has rapidly spiraled out of control.

6:59 AM PST:
The South Tower of the World Trade Center suddenly collapses, plummeting into the streets below. A massive cloud of dust and debris quickly fills lower Manhattan. The WTC towers were built to withstand a 707 being flown into them. A 767 carries almost the same amount of fuel as a 707.

7:06 AM PST:
In Shanksville, PA
According to seismic data, United Airlines Flight 93 crashes near Shanksville, Pennsylvania, in Somerset County, about 80 miles southeast of Pittsburgh. (This is also 124 miles or 15 minutes away at 500 MPH from Washington D.C.) An eyewitness reports seeing a white plane resembling a fighter jet circling the site just after the crash.

7:28 AM PST:
The North Tower of the World Trade Center collapses. The fact that the northern tower withstood much longer than the southern one is later attributed to three facts: the region of impact was higher, the speed of the airplane was lower, and the affected floors had their fire proofing upgraded.

7:30 AM PST:
We are all sitting in the barbershop in disbelief. Watching the flying debris, the dust and the dirt roaring down the street- between skyscrapers- and around corners is profoundly mesmerizing. Staring at the mayhem and the chaos in the streets and the approaching blanket of soot, I feel absolutely helpless.

My concern for the security of our Air Force Base has crept into my consciousness. We haven’t heard anything. No base sirens, no loudspeaker audio- nothing. I begin to wonder what our AF Base Security is doing- if anything.

I’m bewildered by the lack of Air Force direction and response.

9:45 AM PST:
Finally, someone from the 61st Security Force Squadron ducks into the barbershop. The 61st is in charge of our base security. He tells us all to lock up and go home. He is cryptic…we are quiet. We know that our lives will never be the same.

9:55 AM PST:
I’m heading southbound on the 405 freeway. I am surprised by how many cars I see, unusual for the late morning. The freeway isn’t jammed, but it is heavy. I sense- everyone EVERYWHERE has been told to go home.

10:40 AM PST:
I’m in my second floor apartment in Long Beach, flipping channels with my remote like a maniac. I am weeping. And I’m also angry.

12:55 PM PST:
Karen Hughes, a White House counselor, says the President is at an undisclosed location, later revealed to be an Air Force base in Nebraska, and is conducting a National Security Council meeting by phone. Vice President Dick Cheney and National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice are in the underground bunker at the White House. Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld is at the Pentagon.

I watch and listen with morbid fascination at the decisions being made. The FAA, Congress, NY police and firefighters, even the type of coverage I’m getting on the various news channels.

6:00 PM PST:
I am riveted to the television, my attention all consumed. I’ve witnessed 2996 Americans die, and I watch Arabs in the Middle East CELEBRATING in the streets.

8:59:59 PM PST, 11:59:59 EST:
The United Nations International Day of Peace ends.

2 AM PST:
I reluctantly turn off the TV and go to bed. I’m emotionally exhausted- I’ve been watching the television for 15 hours straight. My friends and family have called each other during the day…offering emotional support for one another.

In the days and weeks that follow…I watch our nation go into a deep sadness- allowing the 9/11 attacks to destroy jobs, productivity, the economy- affecting the way Americans handle adversity. I’m deeply disturbed and disappointed by our nation’s reaction. I thought we were stronger than that.

Postscript
As I listen to the liberals and their rhetoric…the ‘I hate America first mentality’, I realize that my utter disgust with them has actually brought clarity to my values…to my own life, and forever shaped my political opinion and view of the world.

In my bedroom…framed in black, are two pictures. One is the front page of USA Today dated September 12, 2001. The other is the front page of the Orange County Register- a late special edition- DATED September 11th.

I will certainly never…never…ever forget. GOD BLESS AMERICA

Now that Obama has managed to ignore the unemployment figures his ENTIRE presidency, it comes as NO....wait...it comes as ZERO surprise that the U.S posted zero jobs for the month of August:

Stocks tumbled 2 percent on Friday after data showing zero jobs growth in August brought investors face-to-face with the prospect of another recession.

Of course, I would argue that we've never come out of a recession. This is still the long running First Recession.

U.S. President Barack Obama, in a speech set for Thursday, will unveil a jobs program he hopes will provide "meaningful" tax relief and help the nation's long-term unemployed, a top aide told Reuters Insider.

Really? Obama has been in office for 31 months....and he's going to do something NOW? Unemployment has been a national crisis since the moment he took office. But he thought Health Care, More Regulation and EPA nonsense was more important.

The likelihood of more stimulus has increased dramatically as a result of this and some other recent data, but at this point it's unclear how much that will really help markets," said Derek Hoyt, chief investment officer at KDV Wealth Management in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Another Fed handout? We're trillions in debt. What's left to handout?

Mexicans Killing Mexicans in Mexico- It's all Our Fault!

Mexico's Calderon berates U.S. after casino attack

President Felipe Calderon declared three days of mourning on Friday and demanded a crackdown on drugs in the United States after armed men torched a casino in northern Mexico, killing at least 52 people.

Under intense pressure as violence soars, Calderon said he would send more federal security forces to the city of Monterrey, where gunmen set fire to an upmarket casino on Thursday in one of the worst attacks of Mexico's drugs war.

Lashing out at corrupt officials in Mexico and "insatiable" U.S. demand for drugs for fomenting the violence, Calderon urged Congress to stamp out drug consumption and stop illegal trafficking of weapons across the border into Mexico.

"We're neighbors, we're allies, we're friends, but you are also responsible," a somber and angry Calderon said to the United States in a speech after meeting his security advisers.

Yep. I want my drugs. And because I want my drugs, that means I'm responsible for a Mexican killing another Mexican. Yah, that makes perfect sense.

Fox News website calls Obama’s birthday party a ‘Hip-Hop BBQ’

Fox News' criticism of the Obama administration is becoming more than a Common problem.

The rapper Common, you may recall, drew heated commentary from the cable network for his invitation to take part in a White House poetry night. And Eric Bolling, a host on the Fox Business network, faced allegations of racism in May after referring to the White House as the "Hizzouse," "Hizzy" and "The Big Crib," and guests of the administration as "hoods" on the air.

On Thursday, a Fox News opinion website called Fox Nation aggregated a "Playbook" column by Politico's Mike Allen about President Barack Obama's 50th birthday bash, changing Allen's typically long headline with this:

'Obama's Hip-Hop BBQ Didn't Create Jobs'

The private party included dinner ("BBQ chicken, ribs, hamburgers, hot dogs, pasta, salad") in the Rose Garden was attended by Obama's staff and celebrities including Al Sharpton, Jay-Z, Chris Rock, Charles Barkley, Steve Harvey, Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson. There were performances by Stevie Wonder, R&B singer Ledisi, jazz legend Herbie Hancock. A DJ "played Motown, hip-hop, and '70s and '80s R&B."

"The president asked everyone to dance -- and they did!"

The headline, not surprisingly, immediately sparked renewed charges of racism against the network. But Fox is standing by it.

Bill Shine, Fox executive vice president of programming in charge of the Fox Nation site, defended the decision in a statement to The Cutline: "We used the hip-hop reference per Politico's Playbook story this morning which stated 'Also present: Chicago pals, law-school friends, donors--and lots of kids of friends, who stole the show by doing dance routines to the hip-hop songs, in the center of the East Room.'"

So....let me see if I understand this correctly: Fox News REPEATS a reference from another article which declared that guests were dancing to 'Hip Hop' songs being played at the President's birthday party BUT because they use the same term 'Hip Hop BBQ' in their title- they're racists?

Here we go again. Liberals seem to find racism everywhere they look. Under every nook and cranny in our society. And lo' and behold' when they declare someone a racist.....it's game over! Let it be written, let it be said! What liberals are suggesting, of course, is that Fox News...aka. "A bunch of white racists" are racists because they've used the term Hip Hop and/or BBQ in the same damn sentence. But when government fails, it expands even faster. This is, Gillespie and Welch say, because “politics is a lagging indicator of change,” a sector of top-down traditions increasingly out of step with today’s “bottom-up business and culture” of: “You want soy with that decaf mocha frappuccino?”

A generation that has grown up with the Internet “has essentially been raised libertarian,” swimming in markets, which are choices among competing alternatives.

And the left weeps. Preaching what has been called nostalgianomics, liberals mourn the passing of the days when there was one phone company, three car companies, three television networks, and an airline cartel, and big labor and big business were cozy with big government.

Apparently, Amy Winehouse now joins a rather dolorous group of Rock stars. Unfortunately, over the weekend she became a member of a club of men and women who have died tragically at the age of 27.

Amy Winehouse’s sad death came when she was just 27. It’s an age that sounds familiar to anyone who knows their history regarding gone-too-soon musical artists.

Sadly, there’s proof that rock stars are more likely to become members. A 2007 study by researchers at Liverpool John Moores University determined that North American and British music stars were “twice as likely to die a premature death as ordinary citizens of the same age,” according to an AP article.

For Amy, she managed to ignore her own hit single.

Getting to Crazy

A number of commentators seem shocked at how unreasonable Republicans are being. “Has the G.O.P. gone insane?” they ask.

Why, yes, it has. But this isn’t something that just happened, it’s the culmination of a process that has been going on for decades. Anyone surprised by the extremism and irresponsibility now on display either hasn’t been paying attention, or has been deliberately turning a blind eye.

As much as I like to think I know about government welfare, I'm always astounded to come across YET ANOTHER loophole. And so it is with something called "Section 8".

Housing vouchers a golden ticket to pricey suburbs

It was clear that Liza Jackson’s luck had changed when she drove her pearl-white Dodge sedan, the one with the huge pink plastic eyelashes over the headlights, into Pinebrook, an eight-year-old subdivision where residents tend to notice cars with huge pink eyelashes.

“There goes the neighborhood,” one homeowner said when she heard that her potential new neighbor had a federal housing voucher known as a Section 8.

That's right...if you're on welfare...like the Jeffersons on TV...you're moving on up!

Jackson had planned the move for months, perusing rentals on Section 8 Web sites that offer everything from chic new condominiums in Miami to four-bedrooms in Phoenix, Las Vegas and Atlanta.

Jackson decided on Charlotte, where she could get more square footage for her family, which included Sheena, Sheena’s 5-year-old son, Shamahrie, and her two dogs, Coco Chanel and Mamacita. Wow...I'm in shock. Clarence Clemons died yesterday.

I grew up listening to Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. I saw them in concert here in LA. And now Clarence has passed. I will miss him and his amazing saxophone.

A spokeswoman for Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band says saxophone player Clarence Clemons has died. The 69-year-old musician was hospitalized about a week ago after suffering a stroke at his home in Florida.

That's the only way to describe the last 5 years. There's Twitter. There's Facebook. There's LinkedIn. And a host of Apps to support those networks. There's seems to be no end. Every day...a story comes out how 1 or more of these 'social networks' presents what I call: The Law of Unintended Consequences'. Case in point...Congressman Weiner of New York. That's this week's debacle.

In terms of liberal hysteria no one...and I do mean no one...can send liberals into mass hysteria quite like lovely Sarah. So for that, not only does she get an A+ (and my unabashed affection), but she sets the bar by which all other contenders here will be measured. For Anti-RINO, based on her role as governor alone when she took on established Republican cronyism and Big Oil, she gets an A. She has zero skeletons in the closet: another A.

Unfortunately, when it comes to Leadership, this is where Sarah gets in trouble. I get that she had bad advice when she was introduced to the rest of America as McCain's choice for vice president in 2008. But her ignorance on several important issues was completely her fault, ill advice or not. In short, she didn't do her homework when she first met the effete and pompous liberal media. Compounded with the fact that she bailed as governor before finishing up her 1st term in office leaves me very disappointed. For Leadership, I give her a C-.

2. Mitt Romney

Oh boy. Where do I start. Liberals actually like Romney (which should give you a clear indication where my grade was heading). Also, as governor of Massachusetts, he was key in getting a landmark health care bill passed. A horrible piece of moon-bat legislation that stands today, at the state level, as a 'model' for Obamacare. Mitt Romney has also flipped on the issue of abortion. First he was for it, now he is against it.

He has shown strong leadership, but pandering to liberals in Massachusetts, is something no conservative will ever be able to digest- that has RINO written all over it.

3. Tim Pawlenty

Liberal Hysteria= C
Anti-RINO= B
Skeletons in the Closet= A
Leadership= B+

Pawlenty is a nice guy. A standup guy. Initially supporting the Cap and Trade bill was a major mistake. But at least, he has copped to it. Flying under the radar has helped him but all that will change if he becomes the frontrunner.

His leadership skills are his strong suit. But after that, his boat starts taking on water. Obama's Ambassador to China? He supports same sex marriage? Supports Cap and Trade? Liberals like him? Ruh-roh.

Good guy. I could be a big fan of his. His biggest drawback is his lack of name recognition and leadership skills. Right now, he's out of office. If he gets a sense of humor, some big money, and a crack organization behind him, he has a chance.

Utah legislators want to see the dollar regain its former glory, back to the days when one could literally bank on it being "as good as gold."

To make that point, they've turned it around, and made gold as good as cash. Utah became the first state in the country this month to legalize gold and silver coins as currency. The law also will exempt the sale of the coins from state capital gains taxes.

Are there more states thinking about returning to gold? You betcha!

Earlier this month, Minnesota took a step closer to joining Utah in making gold and silver legal tender. A Republican lawmaker there introduced a bill that sets up a special committee to explore the option. North Carolina, Idaho and at least nine other states also have similar bills drafted.

A Michigan man who won $2 million in a state lottery game continues to collect food stamps 11 months after striking it rich.

And there's nothing the state can do about it, at least for now.

Leroy Fick, 59, of Auburn won $2 million in the state lottery TV show "Make Me Rich!" last June. But the state's Department of Human Services determined he was still eligible for food stamps, Fick's attorney, John Wilson of Midland, said Tuesday.

"If you're going to try to make me feel bad, you're not going to do it," Fick told WNEM-TV in Saginaw on Monday.

Is this a great country or what!

Eligibility for food stamps is based on gross income and follows federal guidelines; lottery winnings are considered liquid assets and don't count as income. As long as Fick's gross income stays below the eligibility requirement for food stamps, he can receive them, even if he has a million dollars in the bank.

Becoming a punching bag for Ron Paul or some of the marginal candidates who could be in the debate is not in Romney’s playbook for May 2011. “Stay tuned,” he told reporters when they asked Friday whether he would be there.

Friday’s forum was a benign event: serial speeches by the five prospective candidates, plus two questions for each from a moderator. Still, Romney got a taste of what’s coming — and the way one of his key rivals will deal with him. One of his two questions focused on the Massachusetts health-care plan. “I was hoping I would get that question,” he claimed, too eagerly. “Thank you. Thank you. It’s about time.”

He said there were a lot of problems he tried to solve in Massachusetts: portability, preexisting conditions and the cost to the state of providing care to people without insurance. He said Massachusetts was paying out “hundreds of millions of dollars giving out free care to people who could have afforded to take care of themselves.”

He didn’t say so explicitly, but that is a reason the plan imposes a mandate on individuals to buy insurance — the very provision that is anathema to conservatives in Obama’s plan.

Where's Ronald Reagan?

Remember when Ronald Reagan dismissed thousands of Air Traffic Controllers? Yah...well... it's time for another union house cleaning.

For at least the fifth time since early March, an air traffic controller fell asleep on the job today in Miami, prompting negotiations between the government and the controllers' union to change the way controllers are scheduled to work.

Uh...I think it's time you changed the way controllers organize, but that's just me.

In total there have now been at least seven incidents since the start of the year in which a controller is believed to have fallen asleep on the job on the midnight shift. One case occurred earlier this week in Reno when a controller missed a radio call from a plane carrying a seriously ill passenger.

Ooops! Just another union guy asleep at the wheel. Fortunately, there was no mishap in the sky above Reno. Otherwise, there would've been many more seriously ill passengers.

Foreign automakers are placing their U.S. factories in the region because of generous incentives and a workforce famously resistant to unions. That's presenting a huge challenge to the once-formidable United Auto Workers. Plants in the South are churning out more of the nation's supply of new vehicles. They now account for about half of all vehicle manufacturing in the U.S., yet none of the factories operated by the foreign automakers in the region has union workers.

But the UAW is having trouble making its case to workers who have an intense loyalty to the automakers who brought high-paying blue-collar employment to these small towns and cities starved for jobs.

"I don't want to give any more pieces of the pie to anyone else. I need it for myself," said Kevin Carroll of La Grange, Ga., who was unemployed when hired by Kia Motors Manufacturing last year.

NO union workers. None.

Democrats and union leaders, emboldened by the huge outpouring of protesters who have rallied for weeks at the Capitol to oppose what they called a politically motivated effort to weaken unions, pledged to redouble their political, legal and legislative efforts to block measures that the governor had described as necessary to balance the budget. A lawsuit was filed challenging the unusual legislative maneuvering that preceded the bill’s passage.

Imagine that! A lawsuit.

Officials from Dane County, which encompasses Madison, went to court seeking an emergency injunction to prevent the law from taking effect, alleging violations of open meeting laws and quorum requirements. The judge denied the motion and scheduled a hearing for Wednesday.

The Dane County district attorney is also investigating the open meetings allegations.

The democrats left the state and refused to return...now they want to legally challenge what happened in their absence. Democrats really are like children. They want all of the freedom of grownups but none of the responsibility.

UPDATE: And lo'....it has happened. The blight that is liberalism....strikes again.

Dane County Circuit Judge Maryann Sumi issued a temporary restraining order Friday, barring the publication of a controversial new law that would sharply curtail collective bargaining for public employees.

Hawaiian Electric workers picketed yesterday at Archer Lane and King Street after about 1,300 members of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 1260 went on strike at 3:30 p.m.

Hawaiian Electric Co. used managers and outside contractors to repair storm-damaged power lines yesterday after its unionized work force walked off the job over a contract dispute.

The workers rejected last month a tentative contract agreement reached between union leaders and management, setting the stage for the strike.

Gee. what a shocker. Your union leaders agreed to it, so then because you don't agree with your own union leaders that you elected, you make sure all the residents who don't have power, feel your pain.

Consider the extremes. President Obama is redesigning his administration to make it even friendlier toward big business and the megabanks, which is to say the rich, who flourish no matter what is going on with the economy in this country. (They flourish even when they’re hard at work destroying the economy.) Meanwhile, we hear not a word — not so much as a peep — about the poor, whose ranks are spreading like a wildfire in a drought.

During a conversation I had this week with Peter Edelman, a professor at Georgetown University Law Center and a longtime expert on issues related to poverty, he pointed out that the number of people in that tragically dismal category has grown to more than 17 million. These are the folks trying to make it on incomes below half of the official poverty line, which is $22,000 annually for a family of four.

No one talks about these families and individuals living in extreme poverty. Certainly not the Republicans who were having a dandy time this week deliberately misreading the Constitution
and promising budget cuts and other initiatives that will hurt the poor even more.

If you’re still having trouble deciding whose side the Republicans are on, just keep in mind that the House G.O.P. bigwig Darrell Issa sent a letter to 150 businesses, trade groups and think tanks asking them to spell out which federal regulations they dislike the most. These are lifeguards on the side of the sharks.

Let's immediately review Herbert's b.s. statement: Republicans are 'deliberately misreading the Constitution'. Think about that. This means 1 of 2 things: Either...only Democrats read the Constitution correctly OR only Republicans are reading the Constitution- which we know for sure- is not true.

15 headless bodies found in Acapulco

The headless bodies of 15 people were found dumped near a shopping center in the tourist city of Acapulco, Mexico, the Guerrero State Public Security office said in a statement Saturday.

The victims are all men between the ages of 25 and 30 years old. Police were led to the bodies by a group of burning vehicles, the security office said.

A 16th body was found in a nearby car. The victim was a 30-year-old man who was shot to death, the office said.

Unbelievable. This type of thing is happening almost daily. With all the beautiful places in the world for me to choose from...rest assured...Mexico won't be one of them.

Ah....the first day of January. It's a New Year....heck it's 2011! Yes, two thousand eleven. Yet, somehow someway- cigarette companies are still being held accountable for the malaise brought on by those stupid enough to smoke.

Lo' and behold a 49 year old woman has managed to successfully sue Big Tobacco. And this, despite the DIRE WARNINGS that have been in place since I was a child. Amazing...I'm older than she is.

Conn. smoker awarded $4M more in tobacco lawsuit

A Connecticut smoker who won $8 million against a tobacco company in May, the first such jury award in New England, has been awarded $4 million in punitive damages and stands to get millions more in interest.

Barbara Izzarelli, a Norwich resident who developed larynx cancer, won the jury award against R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. after a two-week trial, but the Bridgeport panel left the amount of punitive damages up to the judge.

Judge Stefan Underhill on Thursday ordered punitive damages of $3.97 million, bringing Izzarelli's total award to nearly $12 million. The punitive damages will cover attorney fees and other legal costs.

$12 Million! Are you kidding me?

Ms. Izzarelli, who is 49 and smoked Salem cigarettes for more than 25 years, underwent surgery at 36 that resulted in the removal of her larynx.

25 years ago- makes it 1985. In 1985, ALL 50 STATES knew the dangers of smoking! Warnings had in place since 1965. I knew about cancer-causing cigarettes as a teenager in the mid 70's. My friends knew...heck, my friends' friends knew.

And yet, she hits the mother lode. All because she couldn't stop. Why don't you know...she was helpless! She couldn't control her urge....her addiction. Only in America, do you get rewarded for your own addiction.

If you remember Hurricane Katrina, then you remember how former president...George W. Bush was excoriated, vilified, and damned- for his slow response. Of course, what was entirely ignored during that crisis by the flaming liberal media, was the COMPLETE lack of First (city...aka Mayor Nagin) and Second (state...aka Democratic Governor) Responders as well. Somehow, the liberal media conveniently forgot that the Federal government is a third responder.

Amazingly, liberals still believe that the all-knowing (see omniscient), all-powerful (see omnipotent) civilians who take care of America (see Nanny State) will be much quicker next time....or the time after that....oh heck...maybe it will be: the time after that.

When given the chance to prove liberals right...that government will TAKE CARE OF US DAMMIT....city, state, and federal government civilians do the opposite...proving liberals wrong, again and again and AGAIN.

And I'm thinking it's 'again' for the 4 millionth time.

Bloomberg Takes Blame for Response to Snowstorm

Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg admitted on Wednesday that his administration’s response to the blizzard that buried New York this week had been inadequate, and he pledged to hold himself and others accountable as the city continued to work its way to normalcy.

The earth continues to get warmer, yet it’s feeling a lot colder outside. Over the past few weeks, subzero temperatures in Poland claimed 66 lives; snow arrived in Seattle well before the winter solstice, and fell heavily enough in Minneapolis to make the roof of the Metrodome collapse; and last week blizzards closed Europe’s busiest airports in London and Frankfurt for days, stranding holiday travelers. The snow and record cold have invaded the Eastern United States, with more bad weather predicted.

Oh but it gets better. Here's a cockamamie notion that takes your breath away:

I must say, I certainly enjoyed reading the UK Times today. Christopher Booker weighs in and puts the Global Warming hoax in its proper place.

If, last week, frozen behind a snowdrift, you heard a faint hysterical squeaking, it might well have been the sound of those 20,000 delegates holed up behind a wall of armed security guards in the sun-drenched Mexican holiday resort of Cancun, telling each other that the world is more threatened by runaway global warming than ever. Between their tequilas and lavish meals paid for by the world’s taxpayers, they heard how, by 2060, global temperatures will have risen by 4 degrees Celsius; how the Maldives and Tuvalu are sinking below the waves faster than ever; how the survival of salmon is threatened by CO2-induced acidification of the oceans; how the UN must ban incandescent light bulbs throughout the world.

What we are seeing here is one of the greatest collective flights from reality in the history of the human race. As western Europe shivers to a halt and our energy bills soar through the roof, the time has come when we should all start to get seriously angry with our politicians for being carried away by all this claptrap.
