Ramsey Clark Defends Saddam
Yes you read that title right.
A prominent American anti-war activist arrived here Sunday to assist the defense team of Saddam Hussein when his trial resumes Monday, as reports surfaced of a plot to assassinate a top tribunal official. Ramsey Clark, a former U.S. attorney general, was accompanied by Najeeb Nuaimi, a former Qatari justice minister.
"Our plan is to go to court in Baghdad on Monday morning representing defense council as defense support," Clark told reporters before departing from Amman, Jordan. "A fair trial in this case is absolutely imperative."
I'm sitting here in shock. Nothing like having an American defending Hussein at his upcoming trial. Hmmm....I'm sure this will go over well with the rest of the world. Can't wait to read the headlines of France's Le Monde or hear the sound bites from UK's BBC.
Apparently, Mr. Clark thinks that Saddam won't be getting a 'fair' trial. Therefore, Clark best show up to ensure one.
Uh huh, yah.
